Lloyd William Grever, 93, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021, Thanksgiving Day. Born April 23, 1928, in Prairie View, IL, he was a son of the late Herman F. and Emma C. Grever. He was the ninth of twelve children. He grew up with three sisters and eight brothers along with 15 double cousins on adjacent dairy farms in Lake Zurich, IL – a total of 27 double cousins.
Lloyd had a strong faith in his Lord Jesus Christ and lived life with a giving heart. He was a member of First Assembly of God where he drove the Senior Bus and helped with video and audio for the senior luncheons. Lloyd served in earlier years as a deacon at Bethlehem and Epiphany Lutheran Churches. From 1956, he worked as a Systems Analyst with Lincoln Life and Parkview Health Systems, retiring to work again as a USPS Rural Carrier Associate. He was a 2nd Lieutenant Marine veteran. A brilliant innovator, he also enjoyed golf, hard work, spending time with family, gardening, tinkering, fishing, and genealogy. He enjoyed the challenges of life, producing furniture, a skating rink, a mobile basketball court and a bridge across the creek behind the home he enjoyed with his family for over 50 years. He was an avid fan of the Cubs baseball team and Iowa Hawkeyes football team.
He lost the love of his life, M. Norene Grever in 2015; they met at Iowa University and they are now reunited in heaven.
To cherish many memories are his daughters, Pam (Bruce) Gould, Linda Grever and Rita (Max) Brand; sons, Tom (Jodi) Grever and Tim Grever; a sister, Judith Schuetz; seven grandchildren, Jimmy (Joy) Tilton, Andrew Tilton, Luke (Jenny) Tilton, Ruthie (Nate) Pease, Jakob Brand, Naomi Brand, and Nicole Brand; five great-granddaughters, Scarlett Pease, Esli Tilton, Elory Pease, Arieh Tilton, and Shiloh Tilton; followed by two great-great-grandsons, Jack Tilton and his brother on the way.
Also preceding him in death are his siblings, Alvin, Harvey, Ralph, Eugene, LeRoy, Herman, Glenn, James, Eleanor, and Marie Grever.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at First Assembly of God, 1400 W. Washington Center Road, with visitation one prior to the service. Memorial contributions in Lloyd's honor may be directed to the church. Entombment in Concordia Cemetery Gardens on Lake Ave.
