

LORETTA CURTIS, 93, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014, at Canterbury Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born Oct. 26, 1920, in Miami County, Ind., she was one of six children and a daughter of the late Forrest and Minnie (Clelland) Knox. She graduated from Converse High School, class of 1938. On June 17, 1939, she married the late Richard A. Curtis, who as an Episcopal priest serving churches in Gas City, South Bend and Howe, Ind. Following his passing, Loretta moved to Fort Wayne in 1981 and had since been a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church. In her spare time, Loretta volunteered at the Embassy Theater and was a member of the Crestwood Neighborhood Watch. She was especially fond of making baby quilts and Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for the children and grandchildren of her many friends. She is survived by her son, Matthew Curtis of Sewanee, Tenn.; daughters, Deborah (Byron) Cooper of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. and Mary Whiting of Portage, Mich.; brother, John W. Knox of Greenfield, Ind.; grandchildren, Liz Cooper of Chicago, Ill. and Andrew Cooper of Boston, Mass.; along with several loving nieces and nephews. Memorial service is 1 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 7308 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with a gathering one hour prior to service.
