Marcile Keck

Marcile Keck (nee Leininger), age 94, entered her eternal rest May 21, 2021. As a child of God She lived out her faith taking control when circumstances around her were out of control. She raised 5 children by herself, was faithful in worship, advocated for Christian education, and was bold to stand up for what she believed was right. She could pinch a penny and took pride in being able to live within her means despite difficult circumstances. She was baptized confirmed, married and a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church, Ft. Wayne, graduating from Zion grade school, Concordia High School, Valparaiso and Indiana University, ultimately achieving a Master's Degree in Education. She was a teacher for 30 years, retiring from Pleasant Center elementary in Ft. Wayne Community Schools. She loved the Lord, art, music, cooking, and conserving natural resources-a woman ahead of her times who composted because “A rind is a terrible thing to waste” and instilled those values in her children.

She is survived by her children Kris (Don) VanDyke of Aurora, Co, Pete (Randi) Keck of Fremont, In, Jonathan (Susan) Keck of Ft. Wayne, Phil (Sharon) Keck of Frankfort, in. and Klara (Kent) Hines of Spencerville, In; Grandchildren Kara, Emily. Martin, Jennifer, and Madison, and Great Grandchildren, Addie, Lorelei, Grayson, Ezekiel, Camden, Nora, Ellie, and August. Preceding her in death were parents - Martin and Clara Leininger; brothers, Milton, Delbert and Robert Leininger; sisters Alida Speaker and Norine Longe.

Funeral service will be 10:30am, Thursday, May 27, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church, 2313 S. Hannah Street, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm, Wednesday, May 26, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
