Mildred Joan Keuneke, 94, of Fort Wayne, Indiana died peacefully surrounded by her family on January 23, 2024 at Park Place Senior Living, where she had many friends. She was born on January 8, 1930, with a twin sister, Margaret Ellen Uhlig, to the late Carl Walter Uhlig and Lena C. (Buhlman) Uhlig. Mildred, lovingly known as Mickey, always had a smile on her face and loved to play softball. She married Roland G. Keuneke on October 14, 1950. She was a lifelong member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where she and Rollie loved to worship and sing. She worked for the Fort Wayne Public School System as a secretary for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; husband; and five siblings, Betty Walter, Richard "Red" Uhlig, Ruth Stults, Margaret Uhlig, and Mary Vandre. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Mildred was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where we will give glory to God for her at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 2, 2024 with visitation two hours prior. Burial will be at Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne following the funeral service. Memorials may be given to Concordia Lutheran Church or Lutheran Hour Ministries.
