Bill preceded her in death in 1989 and Norma became a strong, independent woman who faced many challenges on her own for the rest of her life. Norma moved back to Minnesota in 1993 to care for her mother until she passed away in 1998. She then returned to Alaska, living and working in Anchorage until her daughter convinced her to move to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 2017.
