

Rodney O. "Rod" Berger, 98, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025. Rodney was born on July 1, 1927 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a son of the late Ernest H. and Esther (Goetter) Berger. Rodney graduated from Valparaiso University and served in the United States Navy. He was hired by GE and sent to Germany and Athens, Greece where he worked and lived with his family for 14 years. He worked as an electrical engineer primarily with radar systems, including at the time of radar's infancy. On returning to Fort Wayne Indiana, he worked at Magnavox for many years. In addition to his Fort Wayne home, Rodney tended 80 acres in Noble County. He loved the trees and spending time outdoors. He had a passion for cars, especially vintage VW vehicles, Studebakers, and a '52 Chevy. Rodney is survived by his children: Rebecca A. (Wallace) Caskey, Daniel T. Berger, Amy (Tim) Berger-McNitt, and Andrew J. Berger; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and his brother, Clyde Berger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Schnedler) Berger; his parents; and his younger brother, Daniel D. Berger.
A funeral will be held at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3425 Crescent Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46805, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6600 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804.
