

Thelma M. Hoffmann, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 10, 2022, in her beautiful home in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on October 20, 1927 in Peru, IN to the late Harold and Edna (Black) Eshelman. She graduated from Walton High School in 1945, and went on to become an RN after earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She also earned a degree in Mental Health Technology, Culinary Arts, and became an ordained minister. Thelma had two beautiful children, Marc Christian Ellis and Teresa Dawn (Ellis) Jones, both of whom preceded her in death. She was an avid gardener who grew plants of all kinds, and was known among her family for her skill in bringing plants back from the brink of death. If you were privileged enough to have enjoyed her snickerdoodles or her pies, then you experienced her love, as cooking and baking were one of the many ways she shared her love. Thelma is survived by her granddaughters, Leslie (Adam) Baron and Kelly Ellis; her great-grandson, Jaxson; her son-in-law, Doug Jones; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her children; and two sisters, Jo Ann Patty and Barbara Oliver. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46835, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Entombment at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, will follow the funeral service.
