

WILLIAM G. SMALLWOOD, SR., 89, of Fort Wayne, died on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at The Towne House Health Care Center. Born in Logansport, Ind., he was a 1940 graduate of Central High School and a World War II U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran. He retired as an Inspector from the Allen County Building Dept. in 1986. He was a lifelong member of Concordia Lutheran Church, the Men's Club at the church, Local 156 Sheet Metal Union and American Legion Post 47. He is survived by his daughter, Jeannine (Larry) Secrist of Fort Wayne; son, William G. (Patricia) Smallwood, Jr. of Fort Wayne; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan (Larry) Foelker and Carolyn (Rolland) Keuneke; and sister-in-law, Norma Bloom. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Elda M. (Meyer) Smallwood; parents, Henry and Margaret (Williams) Smallwood; a sister, Barbara Starke; and a brother, Robert Smallwood. Service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior to service at the church. Visitation also from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Preferred memorials to Parkview Home Health & Hospice or Concordia Lutheran Church.
