San Luis resident Bertha Medina, passed away March 27, 2020, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born April 5, 1930 to Patricio Atencio and Rosanita Sanchez Atencio in Chama, CO., Costilla County.
Bertha worked all her life as a housewife, her passion was gardening and flowers. Oh, she loved flowers. Bertha was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she had a big heart and a lot of love for her family. She was a sister, aunt and friend to many. She is survived by daughter Patricia (Hal) Barnett of Fountain, CO., sons Amos (Lydia) Medina of Aurora, CO., Ernest (Zolanda) Medina of Peyton, CO., Randy (Lisa) Medina of Littleton, CO., seven grandchildren: Albert, Pamela, Jason, Brandon, Carlos, Noah, Celena Medina and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Bertha is preceded in death by her parents Patricio and Rosanita Atencio, her husband Gabriel Medina, two sons Albert and Karl Medina, three sisters and one brother.
Services will be held on August 7, 2021 at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church, 511 S. Church Pl. San Luis, CO 81152. The Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the Memorial Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m.. The Graveside Service will take place at the San Francisco Catholic Cemetery in Costilla County, CO. There will be a reception to follow at Painted Sage.
