

Carol attended Windsor High School where she met several life-long friends. In 1956 she met her husband, Fred Kautz, in Windsor while he was on was on leave from the Army visiting relatives. After a brief courtship, the couple married September 21, 1956. Carol remained in Windsor finishing out the school year. After her high school graduation she joined Fred in Bayreuth, Germany, where he was stationed, arriving on her 18th Birthday.
Fred made the Army his career and the two of them lived in Germany on 3 different tours, which allowed them to visit several European Countries. Carol loved traveling and continued to do so until this year.
For many years Carol worked as a teacher’s aide and school secretary at Webster Elementary and Watson Junior High School in Widefield School District 3. Upon her retirement she traveled extensively in the U. S., Canada, and Europe through the Road Scholar program and taking road trips as a member of the Colorado PT Cruiser Club, again making friends whom she kept until her death.
Carol was highly active in her community. She was a lifetime member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Auxiliary chapter 423 and served in numerous roles volunteering to support VA facilities in Colorado. She also volunteered her time teaching children’s bible study courses, serving in several HOA board positions, and as a member of The Woman’s Club of Colorado Springs.
Carol is survived by her two sons, Jerri of Colorado Springs, Jonnie (Cheryl) of Colorado Springs, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
There will be a 10:00 am grave-site memorial service on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Pikes Peak National Cemetery followed by a reception at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S US Highway 85-87, Fountain, CO, CO 80817-1012, at 11:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Carol may make donations to Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado or the American Cancer Society.
