Cecille was born in Vallejo, California to Joyce and Glenn Gillette. She attended Solano Community College where she received her Associates Degree in Fire Science. She worked as a firefighter for the Vallejo Fire Department from 1985-1996. She was passionate about being a firefighter and said it was the best job in the world! She received special commendations for her service and being the first woman firefighter to be hired in Vallejo, California.
After retiring from firefighting, Cecille made the long trek to Minot, North Dakota where she fell in love with a 10 acre horse ranch. Unaccustomed to the snow, she learned to maintain the land, take care of the horses, and raise her two daughters. As a single mom, she would often jokingly say things like “all in a day’s work” or “I’m just one person”.
She completed several half marathons including the Tinkerbell and the Missoula Half Marathons. Some of her passions included writing, watching movies (especially a good Hallmark one), running, singing, praying, and growing in her relationship with God.
Cecille was determined, fiercely independent, and hard working. Seeing the silver lining was her standard, and being a dreamer was intrinsic. She loved being a mother and was very proud of her two daughters, Melita and Bella! She will always be remembered for her sense of humor, her athleticism, her love of travel and her devotion to God and the church.
Cecille is survived by Melita Alexandria Gillette and Isabella Rhiannon Gillette.
