Born on November 15, 1932, in Belden, Minnesota, to Tom and Della (Bildeau) Costandine, he was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Milo, William, Patrick, and Joyce Thompson.
As a member of the military, Dad lived in many parts of the country and the world but considered Colorado his home. He was a resident of Colorado for 60 years.
Dad’s passions and pastimes were a true reflection of his heart and personality. When able, he loved gardening and spent much of his time tending his grapevines. He enjoyed repairing old cars and often spent his weekends fishing. His love for angling was something he shared with all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—leaving a mark that will never fade.
Dad honorably served 22 years in the United States Army, retiring at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He went on to work in various automotive-related businesses in the Colorado Springs area, including a brief time teaching at El Paso Community College, where he earned an associate degree.
He is survived by his children: Joanne Huspek (Brad), Nita Fitzgibbons (Michael), Georgia Williams (Greg), Thomas G. Costandine, Pauline Eadie (John), and Rhea Phaneuf (Greg); grandchildren: Jeffrey Huspek (Morgan), Alexa Nicholson (Ross), Alicia Weatherly (Scot), Mickayla Williams, Tyko Costandine (Rianna), Forrest Moistner (Ada), Kaelan Moistner (Piper), Armand Phaneuf, and Amelie Phaneuf; and great-grandchildren: Truette Weatherly, Alaina Weatherly, and Shota Moistner. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Sadie, as well as extended family members, caregivers, and friends.
A visitation will be held on May 2, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. US Hwy 85/87, Fountain, CO 80817.
