James R. Clayborn

Jim Clayborn was born on August 31, 1947 and raised in Lamar, Arkansas.

After high school graduation, Jim attended 2 years of school at Arkansas Valley Vocational Technology. He took a break from school to work. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968. He served in Vietnam 1968 to 1969. Jim served his country until August 1986, when he was medically retired due to diabetes. He earned several awards during his Army career including a purple heart. He remained here in his favorite place and continued to enjoy his life with family and many friends. He worked at the U.S. Post Office until 1996 then was disability retired. Jim and Val enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling until Jim wasn't able to go anymore. They purchased some land in Yoder, CO and Jim enjoyed going out to there to do things if he felt good. Otherwise, he enjoyed watching their horses out of their trailer's windows.

He is survived by his wife, Val, and two sons, Chris and Justin of Colorado Springs. He is also survived by two Brother-in-laws, two Aunts, Shirley Clayborn of Loveland, CO and Gladys Swope of Redfield, SD. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and numerous cousins and many friends who enriched his life.

Memorial and Cremation services were under the direction of Dove-Witt Family Mortuary with services held October 5 at 2 pm. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, (DAV).
