Jerry P. Meszler, born on February 17, 1935, passed away on February 6, 2026, at the age of 90. A resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jerry was known for his adventurous, brave, and devoted spirit. He was a gentle, hard-working, and humorous individual who was also kind-hearted, patient, resilient, thoughtful, and wise.
Jerry's early life was marked by his education in Catholic schools as the middle child, with an older sister and a younger brother. He worked in the family boarding house in Pennsylvania, tending horse stables, waiting tables, and performing cabin and lodge maintenance. Jerry was a hunter and trapper, a volunteer fireman, a co-pilot, and eventually a business owner in autobody repair.
He graduated from Parochial High School and pursued a technical trade education in mechanics. Jerry excelled in used car sales and repairs, automotive wholesales, and was the owner of LBJ Paint & Body & Majestic Paint & Body. He retired from a successful career in autobody repair and restorations.
Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, Irene Meszler, and his sons: Philip Meszler, Michael Meszler, Duane (Jennifer) Meszler, David (Shiloh) Meszler, and Daniel (Natasha) Meszler. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Julianna, Morgan, Tyler, Logan, Kaylani, and Mason. Jerry was preceded in passing by Celestine Meszler-MacIvor, Rembert Meszler, and Thomas Meszler.
A man of many interests, Jerry was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He enjoyed car repair and restorations, was a gun collector, and had a keen interest in business management, administration, and sales. His hobbies included bowling, skating, and snowmobiling, and he even owned a trucking company in his early days.
In his community, Jerry was an altar boy, a volunteer fireman, a 4H leader, and a church fair coordinator. He was a member of the western sportsman community and an entrepreneur in Pennsylvania, delivering milk, eggs, and fruit to businesses and private residences through his trucking company. He built fiberglass boats and owned a large car lot both in Florida, serving as an inspiration for success through hard work and dedication in all of his endeavors.
Jerry's family expresses their gratitude to Penrose Hospital for their support in faith ministries. The nurses, palliative care team, and his surgeons provided exceptional care. His sons and loving wife were by his side until he found peace.
In Jerry's own words, inspired by Edgar Albert Guest, "He who said it couldn't be done, but then did it" are words to live by for all surviving family members, in whom he had such pride and love.
Jerry loved his pets, from early beagles, squirrels, and labs, to his surviving dog, "Prince." He will be laid to rest at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, located at 34201 Country Road 33, Kiowa. Jerry's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
