He was born to Isa and William Moneypenny in Ritchie County West Virginia on May 18, 1931, and was one of 13 children.
He was married to Virginia Nichols on May 21, 1951.
He entered the US Army in 1952 where he served for 26 years of active duty and 6 years of active reserve. He retired on September 26, 1985.During his time in the Army he was awarded the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal with 9th Award, Vietnam cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device and the Korean Service Medal With 3 Stars.
His wife Virginia preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children, Larry Moneypenny and wife Doris, Lewis Allen Moneypenny, Sherri Ober and husband Michael Ober, his brother Ray Moneypenny and his sister Christine Zedaker, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Dove-Witt Family Mortuary Fountain, Colorado, is making funeral arrangements. There will be a graveside service Tuesday May 15 at Fort Logan National Cemetery Denver, Colorado.
