Evelyn worked on the dairy with her husband for twenty years. After their divorce in 1971 she worked at the Pikes Peak Library for several years. Following the library, she tended to children. This was by far her favorite job in the world. She loved the babies.
In her spare time she enjoyed, knitting, crocheting, stained glass and other arts. She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. For many years she crocheted baby hats for the infants at the local NICU. She also loved her flower garden and waited anxiously for the first blooms.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter Erby May of Pueblo, Colorado; her daughter Janet Smith of Grand Junction, Colorado; her son Charles Janitell of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and her son Gale Janitell of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her brother Galeon Smith of Missouri and her brother Gordon Smith of Oklahoma; her grandchild Albert Walker, her grandchild Adam Walker, her grandchild Jenny May, her grandchild Noel Voth, her grandchild Christopher Smith, her grandchild Patrick Smith, her grandchild Cheri Turay, her grandchild Jeremy Jamieson, her grandchild Sean Yorty, her grandchild Eric Yorty, her grandchild Kristen Campbell and her grandchild Joshua Janitell; 21 Great-Grandchildren; Three Great Great-Grandchildren.
Preceding her in death is one son, Patrick Lynn Janitell.
A memorial service for Evelyn will be held Monday, May 15, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Dove Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 US Hwy 85/87 Fountain, CO 80817.
Evelyn will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expy., Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903 at a later date.
