

She was born in Fort Duchesne, UT to john and Elise Pawwinnee. She had six sister and three brothers all deceased. She grew up on the Northern Ute reservation in Utah and was educated at the government boarding school in Whiterocks, UT. She attended high school in Riverside, CA and a vocational school at Haskell Indian School in Lawrence, KS. She worked at the BIA office in Ignacio, CO on the Southern Ute reservations where she met Austin Box. They were married in Aztec, NM. They were married for 61 years.
She is survived by her husband Austin Box and three daughters, Debra Branson of Colorado Springs, CO; Susan (Wiley) Reeves of Austin, TX; and Karen (David) Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO. She has two grandchildren, Tarl (Adrienne) Reeves of Braselton, GA and Tara Reeves of Durango, CO and four great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Utah. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, counted cross-stitch, listening to music, traveling and spending time with her family.
Her celebration of life will be on March 18th at 11 AM at First Baptist Church of Peaceful Valley; 7925 Fontaine Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80925.
