Archie Dean Flickinger

Archie Dean Flickinger at age 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2016, in his home in Stafford, Virginia. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa and was a 50-year resident of Arlington, Virginia. Archie was born on June 30th, 1931 to Herman and Signa Flickinger. He attended the University of Iowa where he earned his Bachelor's degree. Archie served in the Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He later retired from the Department of Defense in 1996. Archie was known for having a huge heart, for sharing his sense of humor with family, friends, and co-workers, and having a great love for animals. He was also an avid reader and movie buff. Archie is survived by his wife Sallie, his daughters Anne-Elizabeth, Mary-Stuart, Katherine, and Victoria, 13 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, Virginia on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 12:00 pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the ASPCA in his memory.
