Arthena Marie Baxley

Arthena Marie Baxley, age 83, passed away listening to her favorite scripture on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.
She is survived by her daughter, Terry Baxley; her son, David Baxley (Sue); and her brother, Bill Sifers (Linda).
Arthena will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Aaron Morton (Brittany), Evan Morton, and Devan Baxley; and her great grandson, Zephyr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Marie Sifers; and her forever love, her husband of 38 years, Harold Gene Baxley.
Arthena was born and raised in West Virginia. At 17 years old she moved to Washington, DC and became a stenographer, she worked for J. Edgar Hoover one evening until 2am so the other ladies of the office could go home to their families. That was the kind of woman she was, always thinking about others.
She spent most of her career with Virginia Abrasives Corporation in Petersburg, Virginia. She retired from the company after more than twenty years of service, having made many lifelong friends.
Arthena was a very active member of her church, she loved cooking and baking, especially for functions concerning the church. She was a very loving and sweet lady who was loved by all that knew her. Her greatest love was her family. She cherished her family time!
A visitation will be held for Mrs. Baxley from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel.
Her celebration of life will be held at 9:30am on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Hillcrest Methodist in Fredericksburg, VA.
Arthena will be laid to rest next to the love of her life at 2:00pm on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Southlawn Memorial Park in Petersburg, VA
