I couldn't get myself up to speak at end funeral, but a memory I had vividly is when he first got that orange motorcycle and got it up and running. It was when I still lived in the neighborhood, and my daughter was still a horrible fussy baby. Darryl would never fail to zip that thing around the neighborhood when we were trying to nap. It irritated me so bad, but looking back now he was just beginning a love for something new. I know how much he loves alexis. They were never out and always spent ever moment together when he wasn't at work. I never really got to hang out but I know he was the best man for her. 

Debra and family:  you have our sincere condolences on the loss of your dear son, Darryl.  May his soul rest in peace and may the God of all comfort be with you during this time of bereavement.  Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Darryl and Alexis have been good friends of mine and my fiancé for my entire adult life. I met Darryl and Alexis shortly after I met my fiancé and we hung out together quite a bit.

 I was new to driving motorcycles when Darryl, Jon and I went to skyline drive.  I waved the boys ahead, as I knew I’d be going way slower than they wanted to around the curves. Every time I’d get past a curve, Darryl was there, stopped, looking back for me. Then he’d take off around the next curve. Anytime we rode together, he always looked out for me and I never told him how much I appreciated it! He was supposed to be in our wedding party in September and he will still be honored there. We love him and will miss him terribly. He will be remembered for the hysterically funny guy who was always the life of the party anywhere he went. 
Our hearts go out to Alexis and the Dubiel family in this time.

I only got to meet Darryl once, but I do know how much he loved Alexis, and how much she loves him in return.     They joy that they got out of life and each other's company was a beautiful thing to see.    

While Darryl was taken way too soon, I hope the years of wonderful memories shared with him give comfort, smiles and in time laugher about the fun times that he spent with his loved ones.

Alexis is a dear dear friend of mine.  I never had the pleasure of meeting Darryl but I adored him for the way he loved her!  She said to me once, "We have been through so much together, no matter what happened we always found our way back to each other."   

Alexis, my DTSSW, my heart breaks for you and Darryl's family.  I know it will take time, but with the love he had for you he's never far away.  Look for the signs, he'll show them to you!
