It is with profound sadness that we share that Deborah ‘Deb’ Joan Wilcox (neé Green) passed on April 29th, 2025 at the age of 73. After a warrior’s journey, Deb passed with her husband, John, daughter, Kristyn and son-in-law, Matthew by her side. Deb was vibrant and loved life and the people who filled it. Her presence filled rooms with warmth, kindness, a contagious laugh, and genuine affection. She deeply cherished her friends - both with those she had known for a lifetime and those she had recently met.
Deb was a world traveler, especially with and for her family. She was also a steadfast and unwavering advocate for women's rights, dedicating her time and energy to registering and empowering all community members to vote. Deb basked in the closeness and companionship of her friends. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her and laugh with her, a testament to a life lived with positivity, kindness, passion, and love for her family and friends. Her patience and nurturing nature lives on in her daughters, now ever more determined to live up to the high standard Deb established as a mother.
Born in Syracuse, New York on March 27, 1952, Deb was the daughter of Dorothy Marie Linduski and Richard Earl Green, older sister to David Bruce Green. After graduating from SUNY Geneseo, she married John Vincent Wilcox, also of Syracuse, on December 29, 1973. Deb pursued a Master’s degree in Speech and Hearing Language Pathology from The College of Saint Rose, dedicating her career as a Speech Pathologist to improving communication for children with speech challenges and for adults with brain injuries. Her commitment extended to serving as president of two speech and hearing professional associations. Even in retirement, Deb remained passionate about educating the community on hearing loss, its effects on the individual and family, and treatment options.
Deborah is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Wilcox; her daughter Kristyn Ruth Feldman and her husband Matthew Feldman of Silver Spring, MD; and her daughter Elizabeth Irene Wilcox and her partner Christian Bottegal of Sitges, Spain.
