He was born on December 12, 1943, in Washington, DC, son of the late Elwood Baker and Lillian Blanton.
He grew up in Washington DC, before heading off to proudly serve in the United States Marine Corps as a Radio Telegraph Operator. He then drove for UPS, where he made many lifelong friends, before enjoying retirement. Ed, known to friends as Chuck, was known for his playfulness and fun sense of humor. With his quick wit, and warm demeanor, he never went anywhere that he didn’t make a new friend. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he had a lifelong love of animals, from his horse Romeo to the many dog and cat friends he shared his home with over the years.
He is preceded by his parents, his sister, Maridee Disbrow, and brother, Elwood Baker. Oh boy, we can only imagine the stories and laughter going on with Chuck and Woody back together!
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Janet Baker; daughter, Teressa Baker; stepchildren, Dennis Harvey, Matthew Harvey and Norman Harvey; grandchildren, Walker Collier and Brody Collier, lifelong best friend Richard Anstice, close family friend Michelle Barber and her children Ratchel, Brooklyn, Christopher, Jessica, and Khelsey; as well as a treasured collection of 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren on Janet’s side.
He will be laid to rest at Quantico National Memorial Cemetery, with a celebration of life planned for a later date.
