

Born January 17, 1945 in Charlottesville, VA., he was the son of the late Edwin Harvie and Frances Clary Jones of Fredericksburg, VA. He graduated from James Monroe High School, Fredericksburg, VA. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Hampden-Sydney College, Hampden-Sydney, VA. While there, he encouraged the inclusion of Asian Studies into the History curriculum. He received a Masters Degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of Foreign Affairs of the University of Virginia as well as a Masters Degree in History from Virginia Tech. He was a dedicated and gifted teacher in schools in Massachusetts and Virginia.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Anne Beverley Jones Kerr of White Post, Clarke County, VA, two nieces Blair Baker Franco of Waxhaw, N.C., Catherine Meade Baker of Garden City, N.Y., two great-nieces Lauren Franco and Lyla Franco of Waxhaw, N.C.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:30 a.m., St. George's Episcopal Church, Fredericksburg, VA., The Rev. Alan Hooker officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, VA., with the Rev. Dr. Charles Moore, cousin of the deceased, officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Carrol Cox, Glendon Insley, and Ralph Hicks.
