Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service
Evelyn Kay Holder, age 62, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Thursday, July 28, 2022.
She is survived by her son, Nathan, who made up the entirety of her world.
She is also survived by her husband, Edward Holder; step-daughter Asenath (Gordon) Shell; brother, Mark (Nanette) Greene; Step-grandkids, Landon, Gracelynn, and Bristol; niece, Abby; and many more friends and family.
Evelyn was born and raised in Falls Church, Virginia, and graduated from Falls Church High School in 1978.
Evelyn made friends everywhere she went. She cared deeply about her friends and neighbors; and never hesitated to reach out or be there for anyone in need. She was incredibly resilient, determined, and compassionate. Evelyn strongly believed that people were placed in her life for a purpose and in perfect moments; she would never turn down an opportunity to sit and talk with a stranger if it meant she could make a positive impact. Evelyn often traveled between Fredericksburg and Virginia Beach, and quickly established her own community of friends in any place she stayed. Evelyn made lasting impressions on the people she has met through the years that continues to stick with many today.
When she wasn’t at home, Evelyn was an avid gym-goer at her local Golds Gym or in Virginia Beach at the stables with her beloved horse, Colt. Evelyn loved to ride horses, train at the gym, and spend her time by the water. Even in the middle of winter, Evelyn could be found walking the beaches of Virginia Beach Oceanfront or on a boat with her son, Nathan.
Evelyn was an incredibly strong, beautiful and compassionate woman with a heart of gold. She is loved and missed by more than she will ever know.
