Florence was known for her wild spirit, her love of going dancing at the Moose Lodges, and her love of riding with Jack on his motorcycle. In her spare time, she loved reading romance novels.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Eugene Sorrells and Ruth Naomi Sorrells (nee’ Minter); sisters Brenda Dillard and Judy Perry.
She is survived by her son, Samuel A. Smith Jr; daughter, Melissa Benson (Dale); sister, Lynn Gibson (Keith); brothers, Donnie Sorrells (lisa). Dennis Sorrells, Roger Sorrells; grandchildren, Britny McGee, John Tolley Jr., Felicity Weddings, Dale Benson Jr.; and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on May 5, 2023 at 10:00 Am at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 1621 Emancipation Hwy., Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
