He was a 1998 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, VA and earned his BS in Electrical Engineering along with a BS in Mathematics and a BA in Economics from Virginia Tech in 2002. After graduation, he went to work at the Dahlgren Naval Base for JWAC. It was on base that same year that he met his wife, Jennifer. They married in 2006 and started their family by adopting two rescue dogs, Abby and Mackie. Jared kept busy at work and at home as well as completing his Masters in Electrical Engineering: Power Systems Planning in 2007 from Virginia Tech. The studies were put on hold after that as daughter Camryn arrived in 2009, followed by son Blake in 2012 and daughter Ashley in 2015. He was an incredibly devoted father and husband, beloved son and brother, and was always ready to help a friend.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer, daughters Camryn (12) and Ashley (6) and son Blake (9), his parents Wade and Debra Luffman currently of Fredericksburg, VA, his sister Allison Fernandez (J.R.), nephews Quade and Gavin of St. Johns, FL, Uncle Chuck Wolfe (Jan) of Auburn, CA, Uncle Eric Luffman of North Syracuse, NY, and grandmothers Ruth Luffman of Cicero, NY and Patricia Wolfe of Austin, TX.
