John Robert Arthur

John Robert Arthur, born August 29th, 1940, of York, Pennsylvania to Eleanor Forsythe and Reginald Wright Arthur, left this world to be with his Lord on April 20th, 2024. JR is survived by his beloved bride of 62 years, Sharon Arthur, and their three beautiful daughters, Kimberley, Kristen, and Kellie, as well as their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. JR loved God, his family, and his country, and served his nation with pride for 23 years as a Naval aviator before retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. In our family and to all who knew him, JR was our true north, some might even say our “north pole;” the twinkle in his eye as bright as the light in his heart, guiding us faithfully through life. His presence was magnificent, truly larger than life, and while it feels to capture the essence of such a mercurial man in words, he lived by these simple three: faith, love, and bagpipes. May we all carry his legacy with love in our hearts, light in our souls, and living each day as a song. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Virginia Heritage Community Center on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. A funeral will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to “Toys for Tots” in JR’s honor.
