He was born on May 16, 1962, in Fredericksburg, VA to the late Isaac Henry and Jean Elizabeth (Embrey) Morefield.
Our father, John, dedicated over two decades of his life to working for the city school system, serving his community for roughly 23 years. He was a man who left an impression—sometimes rough around the edges, but never forgettable. He had a bold personality and a sharp edge to him, yet he was also the kind of person who could light up a room and become the center of any gathering.
At his core, he deeply loved his children and grandchildren and always made it his mission to ensure they were taken care of. No matter the situation, he showed up in his own way, often willing to give whatever he had—even the shirt off his back—to help someone in need. His actions spoke just as loudly as his words, especially when it came to providing for the people he loved.
He had a passion for the things that brought him joy, especially NASCAR and collecting Hot Wheels. He could spend hours focused on finding the perfect addition or chasing down a great deal, something he truly took pride in. Those little things brought him happiness, and anyone who knew him knew just how much he enjoyed the thrill of a good bargain.
Predeceased by his parents and one sister, Gloria Madison.
Survivors include his three children with Tracey Paytes: Misty Bridges (Kenneth) and their children: Jocelyn & Jacob; Johnny Morefield (Leslie) and their children: Lexis, Tyler & Kody; and Isaac Morefield; his two children from Brandie Henderson: Kaitlin Henderson (David Whetzler) and their children: James & Sophia; and Danica Henderson; one brother, Glenn Morefield (Kim); brother-in-law, Lewis Madison and his son, Jeremy; and three great grandchildren: Oliver Hannum, Onyx Rollins and Maia Morefield.
