She was born on June 6, 1945, in Earth, Texas, daughter of the late Clarence O. Lightfoot and Mary Beth Hestand.
Linda was a successful Realtor and Broker in both Virginia and California. She knew real estate laws and regulations better than most. Linda did things her way, in her own time. She launched a successful business at the age of 69. Linda was steadfast in her Christian faith and knew God was with her through life’s journeys.
All who knew Linda will remember her sharp wit. Linda had the Southern charm innocence to ask difficult questions that all were thinking in a crowd, but too shy to ask.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, William C. Mitchell and her brother, Richard Lightfoot. During their happy, 20-year marriage, they were heavily involved in Real Estate and the Free Masons. Linda was a Lady of the Order of the Eastern Star and attended Spotswood Baptist Church of Fredericksburg, VA.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Denise Horton and her dedicated son-in-law, John Horton. She is also survived by her grandson, Jarrett Horton, many friends, colleagues and a special bond she shared with Kirsten Clark that she considered family.
A memorial service will be held at Spotswood Baptist Church on January 31st with Visitation starting at 10:30am; Service at 11am and Reception following at 12:00 noon in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Her remains will be interred at the family cemetery in West Texas later this year.
Linda is once again, soaring with the Angels.
