Martha Sarah Buckles

Martha Sarah Buckles, aged 63, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 26, 2018 in her home surrounded by her family. Marti was born March 31, 1955 in Jackson, MS to William and Mildred Buckles. She leaves her legacy behind with her sons Bryan Frye (Jenna), Drew Frye (Heather) and grandchildren Kayleigh, Taylor, Madison, Savannah, Andrew, Lillian and Sara EllaGrace. She is survived by her brother Tim, sister Marian and her mother Mildred (Mimi). She was preceded in death by her father, William Buckles and her sister Nancy Buckles. Marti was a loving Nana. She adored her 7 grandchildren and made lasting memories with them every chance she had. Her lasting impact on others can be felt worldwide among a very extensive network of family, friends and strangers she has touched with her unfailing kindness, humor and compassion. Her mark was left in the hearts of all who knew her. Marti was a wonderful artist who painted and created masterpieces throughout her life. She loved gardening, sewing, crafting, traveling, the beach, nursing, telling stories and all types of outdoor activities but especially enjoyed hiking and camping with her grandchildren. She was never afraid to start new adventures. This was most apparent when, at the height of her previous career, she decided to drop everything and go back to school to become a nurse due to her love of helping anyone and everyone she could. She was never truly happy unless everyone around her was wearing a smile. It is her giving spirit, beautiful smile and love for life that will be missed the most. Now that she has completed her Earthly journey, she can move on to her dream of standing by God’s side, tending His gardens in Heaven. In keeping with Marti’s wishes, A Celebration of Life will be held in her memory on Saturday November 17th, 2018 at the Elks Lodge (11309 Tidewater Trail, Fredericksburg, VA 22408). The family will receive friends from 2-4pm followed by lunch and remembrance of Marti’s life from 4-6pm. Her ashes will be buried and released according to her wishes at a later time.
