

He was a US Army veteran who was severely wounded in action at Normandy in 1944, but never let his wounds stop him from being a productive citizen of the community and a generous friend to all he knew. He was a long-standing member of Eastland United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his three children, Jean Davis, Carol Fowler and husband, Don and Randolph Hicks, Jr and wife, April; six grandchildren and spouses, Susan Montalvo, Stephanie Reid, Kevin Davis, Angie Noakes, Jennifer Jacobs, and Bailey Hicks; fourteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends; and daughter-in-law, Janet Hicks.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 53 years, Lena; his parents, Hunter and Rosa Hicks; infant daughter, June Marie; siblings, Bertha Perry, Catherine Hovey, Ruth Jefferson, Hunter Hicks, Doris Roberts, and William Hicks; and sons-in-law, DeRay Davis and Tommie Richardson.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg at 1:30 PM, with the family receiving friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
