

He lived with a deep passion for life, finding joy in the roar of airplanes overhead and the quiet beauty of making music. A loving husband, devoted father, and proud papa to his grandchildren, he gave his heart fully to his family and cherished every moment spent with them. Hard-working and exceptionally smart, he approached life with determination, curiosity, and integrity. He believed in living in the moment, embracing each day with gratitude and purpose, and his legacy is one of love, dedication, and a life truly well lived and will certainly be missed by all.
Roy is survived by his first born daughter Tammy Haynes (Tim). Her children Dustin Haynes, Ryan Haynes, Codie Epperly, Devin Epperly, Donovan Jones, Madison Setliff. Second-born daughter Tara Smith, His third-born son Roy D. Haynes Jr. (Mary). His children Cordell Haynes, Alexis Haynes. His daughter Victoria Evans. Her children Madison Evans, Kaitlyn Evans, Drake Futrell, Jordan Sullivan and Brynlee Sullivan. His Last-born son Derek Haynes, his daughter Marleigh Haynes. His brother Joseph R. Haynes (Gail). His children Joshua Haynes (Becca), Stephanie Payne (Thomas), and Rebekah Constien (Cody) Roy’s brother in law Gordon Lynch. His children Jennifer Harper (Bryan), Lisa Lynch, and Lori Stowe (Chris). His nephew & nieces, Mark Haynes (Teresa), Amy Powell (Michael), and Margaret Nestor (Kenny). He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and many more family and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Sherry Haynes; his father, Earl F. Haynes Sr.; his mother, Margaret “Nuni” Fines Haynes; his brother and sister-in-law, Earl F. Haynes Jr. and Judy Brooks Haynes; His sister, Wanda Lynch. His cousin Donald “Donnie” Shields.
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, located at 3702 Loren Drive, Fredericksburg, Virginia. The service is scheduled for December 22, 2025, at 12:00 pm.
