Ted was a man of courage and strength from early childhood illnesses to the time he escaped with his mother and brother Ivan in 1958. The suppressive communist regime of Bulgaria tried to pressure conformity but he resisted, becoming an uncompromising young man.
Throughout the sixties he worked but managed to acquire a Bachelor’s Degree and subsequently got his Law Degree in the1970s. He preferred to work for himself as a criminal attorney in D.C. He respected the judicial system in the U.S. with its emphasis on fair trials, impartially following the law, unlike the sham trials in his home country after WWII when Russian communism took over. After a number of years, he decided to focus on family law in Northern Virginia.
Ted loved bicycling, discussing history, stamp collecting and spending time with his wife Harriet. Family gatherings were lots of fun and he was a kind step dad and grandfather. Ted and Harriet moved to Fredericksburg, VA five years ago, during which time he has struggled with the gradual increased weakness of a blood cancer, with pneumonia taking him in the end. Despite his struggles, he still managed to provide free legal advice to friends and family when he could. He was a no-nonsense, kind and wise person. We cherish our lives together, and the gift of the deer that emerged from the woods during his last minutes of life.
