My Walter,

I miss you so much.  You became such a big part of my life in such a short time. You were cantankerous and loving, all at the same time.  Sweet and Sour.  That was Walter Green to me.  Thank you for the joyous, sometimes burdensome, but always rewarding experience of knowing you.  

Thank you for waiting for me to share your passage into Heaven with you.  I am happy that you did not have to be alone.  Thank you for humor, your advice, and for your love of life. 

I still don't know what to do with myself on Sundays after church.  I miss our visits.  I miss my crotchety old man with a heart of gold. 

I take comfort in knowing that I will see you again in Heaven. Rest in peace, Walter.  You have earned it.
