Wanda worked at the Fredericksburg Antique Gallery for many years. Prior to that she worked as a realtor in Fredericksburg following her retirement from the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. She served in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Office of the commission as a Civil Rights Analyst. Prior to that she worked in Louisiana helping to register voters. She graduated from Rustburg High School and obtained a B.A. Degree and a Master of Arts in Psychology and worked on a doctorate degree at Syracuse University in Public Administration. She published many studies on Civil Rights issues while with the Commission. She was a passionate defender of justice and also served as a Mediator through the Rappahannock Mediation Center. She has many friends who will miss her very much.
There will be a memorial service for Wanda at Massaponax Baptist Church on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 4:00 PM.
She is survived by her brother, James Wood; and two nephews, Don and Dennis Wood.
