Bessie Kathryn Wolking

Bessie “Kathryn” Wolking, 92, of Fulton, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011 at her daughter’s home in New Bloomfield. She was born December 3, 1918 in Mineola, Mo., the daughter of Joshua Luther and Bessie Kellie (Stewart) Bratton.

She was united in marriage to Walter William Wolking on November 20, 1940 in Fulton, Mo. He preceded her in death.

Kathryn loved her family, especially her grandkids. She loved her kitty cat, Pretty Baby. She enjoyed gardening and serving large meals. Kathryn was a secretary at Fulton State Hospital. She was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church.

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Sherry Jenkins and husband Lawrence of Auxvasse, Kathy Wolking of New Bloomfield, and Susan Wolking of Mexico, Mo.; one sister, Pauline Holland of Holts Summit; two nephews, Michael Holland of New Bloomfield and Bill Bratton of Holts Summit; seventeen grandchildren, Sherry Sue Jenkins, Sarah Schaefer and husband Tom of Williamsburg, Lawrence Jenkins, Jr. of Williamsburg, Sandra Coffman and husband Jimmy of Auxvasse, Josh Hazlett and wife SueAnne, Marie Ford, Edelina Harrison, Jacob Harrison, Shawn Wolking of Florida, Sharlene Corzine of Florida, Vivian Kelting of Jefferson City, Sherri Adams of Columbia, Jerry Wolking and wife Becky of Illinois, Lynn Wolking and wife Melissa, Ricky Wolking and Dawn Burkett, Kellie Kaetring and husband Patrick of Illinois, and Jennifer Tharp and husband Dale of Illinois; forty-four great grandchildren, Sheena Marie Love, Stephanie Joe Love, Samantha Ann Schaefer, Michael Edward Jenkins, Jennifer Louise Jenkins, Jaynie Lee Coffman, Justin Layne Coffman, Ashley Dawn Coffman, Derek Arrowood, Dillon Ford, Angel Ford, Corrine Ford, Makala Ford, Kylie Ford, Josalyn Shepard, Xavier Irvin, Zander Harrison, Shawn Wolking, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Rachel Corzine, Kelley Corzine, Alacia Clementith, Dawn Corzine, Mitchell Corzine, Aleah Wolking, Sean Wolking, Alex Wolking, Courtney Wolking, Zach Wolking, Ziggy Wolking, Claire Burkett, Carter Burkett, Rebecca Kaefring, Allison Kaefring, Katelyn Kaefring, Megan Kaefring, Hanna Tharp, Austin Tharp and Brandon Miller, Bruce Johnson, Michelle Houston, Sara Early, Tonya Necochea, and Deanna Ward.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Curt and Jerry; one brother, Stewart Bratton; one nephew, Gary Holland; one grandson, Calvin Adams; and one great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton at 1 pm on Friday, June 24 with Pastor Steve Mallinckrodt officiating. Interment will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 23 from 5 until 7 pm at the funeral home.
