
Ellen “Betty” Coburn 92, of Fulton, Missouri was called home by the Lord Jesus on January 1, 2015.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton.
Betty was born June 7, 1922 to John and Oda Jorgensen Christensen and they preceded her in death. She was married to Robert Coburn on December 26, 1948 in Mason City, Iowa and he preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Macalester College in Minnesota with a degree in music and became an accomplished violinist. She attended the School of Nursing at the Columbia-Presbyterian University in New York City where she received her nursing degree.
Before moving to Fulton in October 1996, Betty raised her family in eastern Connecticut where they were active in church activities and 4-H while she continued nursing in different capacities. She also served on the local school board for several terms.
She was currently a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulton. Her love of God, family and music were always of supreme importance.
Betty is survived by daughter, Tove (Dave) Waldmann of Wildwood, Missouri; sons, John (Susan) Coburn of Henniker, New Hampshire, Charles and Steven Coburn both of Fulton; grandchildren, Rachel Waldmann of Wildwood, Missouri, Jason Waldmann of St. Louis, Missouri, Jennie Valley of Laconia, New Hampshire and Erica Coburn of Norfolk, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Tove Linnea Christensen.
