Our beloved mother and friend, Joy Johnson, passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2026, at the age of 59. Joy was born on April 2, 1966, to Larry Johnson and Joy Heffernan. She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Los Angeles, California in 1982 and later furthered her education at College of the Canyons, in Santa Clarita, California. Joy was a dedicated member of the Church of God Holiness in Fulton, Missouri, and was passionate about living out and sharing God’s word. Through groups like Celebrate Recovery, she found great purpose in helping and encouraging others who needed support.
Joy had a number of careers but found a special calling in selling jewelry online. She had a natural gift for it and poured her heart into the work, but what made it truly meaningful to her was the community she built along the way. It was wonderful to see how she brought people together, forming friendships that went far beyond jewelry. The love and support they have shown is a true reflection of the impact she had on their lives.
Joy’s unconditional love, witty jokes, comforting presence, and warm laughter filled everyone around her with joy. Though she faced countless obstacles throughout her life, her strength and resilience always carried her through. It was truly remarkable to witness all that she overcame.
She was passionate and successful in everything she set her mind to, but one of her greatest accomplishments was raising her three children. She devoted her life to making sure they had the very best, and simply by being their mom, they truly did.
After her children left the nest, Joy moved to Missouri to be closer to her father, Larry. During her time there, she adopted her beloved dog, Baxter, who quickly became her best friend and constant companion. Though her time there was short, it was filled with meaningful friendships, laughter, and many wonderful memories.
Joy is survived by her father, Larry, her daughter, Megan, her two sons, Gregory and Dylan and of course, Baxter. She will always be remembered for the unwavering kindness she showed to everyone she met. Her dedication to spreading love, joy, and faith touched the lives of her family and friends in a lasting way.
