Pat was born March 28, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri to Myrtie Lou Grant Dobbs and Lilburn Guthrie Dobbs. She was the fourth of six siblings and was baptized on June 10th, 1945. Pat loved her sister and brothers dearly and they remained close until her final days often mailing pictures, coins and notes about their families back and forth.
Upon graduation from Normandy High School in 1956, Pat attended Southeast Missouri State University, and then returned to St. Louis and began working at Stix, Baer & Fuller, and then as a clerical typist career at McDonald Douglas working with many NASA engineers on space exploration projects.
She was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Wilderman on April 30, 1966. Their marriage of 57 years produced two children, Susan Gail on November 3, 1969, and Patricia Ann on September 15, 1970. In 1979 the family moved from St. Louis to their farm outside New Bloomfield. Pat embraced farm life helping Bob raise hogs and cattle, planting massive gardens, and supporting Susan and Patty’s love of horses and athletic pursuits. They never missed an event, game, or opportunity to support their daughters.
Pat worked part time with the New Bloomfield School District and full time with the Fulton Police Department prior to her retirement. Upon retirement, Pat began her ultimate “job” of being a full-time grandma to her three grandchildren Ashley, Brooke, and Katie and many of their friends. Again, for their grandchildren, Pat and Bob never missed a school event, ball game, golf match or family event.
Pat was passionate about community service. She devoted many hours of service to New Bloomfield Elementary School, the Millersburg Lion’s club, Guthrie Service Club and the election polls during many local and state elections. Pat’s hobbies included activities with her grandchildren, cooking and baking, crocheting, holiday crafts, quilting, collecting coins, and crossword puzzles. Pat was well known for her Christmas Divinity, biscuits & gravy, fried chicken and many special family meals.
Pat’s true loves in life were her family. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother and never missed an opportunity to gather, serve and spend time with those she loved. She conquered many health challenges but her strength, love and sassiness left those who loved her with cherished memories and stories. A loving Christian, we are comforted by the fact that she has gone home to the Lord and the family that have preceded her.
Survivors include: her husband Bob Wilderman, her daughters Susan (Jim) Dudley, and Patty (Brooks) Miller, her granddaughters Ashley (Peyton) Pollock, Brooke (Justin) Hereth, and Kathryn (Parker) Dunham, and her sister Bernie Sue Dobbs, brothers Cleveland Allen (JoAnn) Dobbs, Robert Lomax (Tedi) Dobbs. Pat is preceded in death by her father Lilburn G. Dobbs, her mother Myrtie Lou Portell, and two brothers Lilburn Guthrie Dobbs (Sonny), and Thomas Edgar Dobbs (Buddy).
