

Richard Lee Elliott, 78, of Fulton passed away Monday, April 18, 2011. He was born to Omer and Anna Beatrice Elliott on August 1, 1932 in Fulton where his love for tractors, cows and working with his hands began.
Richard proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force. Following his honorable discharge, as Tech Sergeant in 1955, he returned to Fulton to begin Elliott’s Construction and Cabinet Company. He led this family business as it grew and changed until his retirement in 1999.
Richard was proud to be a Callawegian. He was always quick to lend a hand and was involved in many local clubs and groups. He was also a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Fulton, where most will miss seeing him as an usher on Easter Sunday.
Richard’s loss will be profoundly felt by his family and the many people whose lives he touched. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret A. (Ellsworth) Elliott; one brother, Larry Elliott and wife Barbara; five children, Rick Elliott and wife Sandy, Debbie Scarbrough and husband John, Ron Elliott and wife Mona, Tammy Kilby and husband Jim, and Jennifer Bone and husband Jim; sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am Friday, April 22 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Reverend Doctor Gary Schultz and Reverend Murray Buschert officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Callaway Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 pm on Thursday, April 21 at the funeral home.
