

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Burial will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
Richard was born on August 26, 1934 to the late Henry and Mary Geneva Toddleson Owen. He was married to Leta Mae Hopsecker on May 16, 1959 in Fulton and she survives.
Richard was a 1952 graduate of Fulton High School where he played football and until recently held the shot put distance record in track and field. He then served for two years in the United States Army before working for MODOT. He then worked for many years at Central Electric Manufacturing Company until his retirement.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Fulton and the IBEW Local 257.
Richard never met a stranger and he will be remembered as a giving person and a skilled craftsman who took great pride in all of his projects. He enjoyed traveling, but his greatest loves were visiting and spending time with his family and friends.
He is also survived by his brother, William “Bill” Owen and wife, Carol, of Fulton; sister-in-law, Dorothy Boyce of Fulton; nieces and nephews, Terry Schmid, Stacey (Andy) Bonderer, Rhonda Risch, and Brian Owen; great-nieces, Ashley Owen, Emma Bonderer, Anna Bonderer ; great-nephews, Dylan Atterberry, Darrell Risch and Dalton Risch.
He was also preceded in death by brothers-in-laws, Loyd Gene Boyce and Anton Schmid; sisters-in-law, Rae Ann Schmid and Melba Owen; cousin, John Robert Thomas; nephews, Alfred Ray Schmid and Darrell Wayne Owen; nieces, Martha Schmid Carroll and Brenda Owen.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church or American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association all in care of Debo Funeral Home, 833 Court Street, Fulton, Missouri 65251.
