He was born June 10, 1954, in St. Joseph, Missouri. He attended McKinley Elementary, Bessie Ellison, and graduated from Central High School in 1972, then attending Missouri Western State College.
He was a member of Wyatt Park Baptist Church and Sons of the American Legion.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Wilton Douglas Dotson and Bertha Eileen (Sparks) Dotson.
Survivors include his siter, Deborah "Debbie" (Doug) Perry, Osborn, Missouri; a nephew, Bryan (Jessica) Perry, Raleigh, North Carolina; two nieces, Beth (John) Hesson, Plattsburg, Missouri and Aimee (Aaron) Ramsey, Osborn, Missouri; nine great nieces and nephews, Preston, Grace, Alec, Chloe, Jaxson, Grant, Ethan, Presley, and Gavin.
A Celebration of Steve's Life will be held Sunday January 25, 2026; 3 PM at Magoons Famous Delicatessen.
