
June 6, at Forrest Cemetery Mausoleum for
Doris Akers, 83, longtime resident of Gadsden, who
Passed away Sunday June 2, 2013. Rev. Randy Comer
will officiate. Collier Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mrs. Akers was an active member of Centerpoint
Church (Warner Robins, GA), and a former member
of River of Life Assembly of God (Gadsden, AL).
She retired from the Social Security Administration.
She also served for many years as the Executive
Director of the Mental Health Association of Etowah County.
She is preceded in death by her Husband,
Dr. James Akers; sisters, Kaye Battles & Alice O'Bar.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa (Jason)
Comer; Grand-children, Aimee & Carter Comer;
adopted sons: Dan (Patsy) O'Bar and Wayne O'Bar;
Neice: Rebecca O'Bar Martin; Nephews: Alan O'Bar
and Casey (Lanie) Cox; Brother-in-law Robert Battles.
Doris was loved by many
and is survived by a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Wayne O'Bar, Dan O'Bar, Alan O'Bar,
Casey Cox, Mitchell Chastain, Robert Battles and Nathan O'Bar
