Betty had a passion for life and hobbies that brought her joy. She was an avid gardener, nurturing hundreds of rose bushes and earning awards for her breathtaking blooms. She was also a competitive bowler, participating in state tournaments for many years. Betty had a special love for New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where she cherished spending vacations every year since the 1970s.
Her love for life extended beyond her gardens, as she raised poodles and adored her dogs. Betty was a talented seamstress, making dresses, Halloween costumes, and beautiful quilts for family and friends. She also enjoyed knitting, collecting glassware, and expressing herself through painting and ceramics. When it was time for fun, Betty loved to dance—especially the jitterbug.
She loved her church family at Eastside Baptist Church, where she was a member for over 50 years. A special thank you to Kokahlene Minton, who kept her informed and connected when Betty’s health prevented her from attending services.
Pallbearers honoring her memory include Mike Ford, Shane Gilchrist, Ryan Gray, Benjamin Jones, Trace Leath, Sam Dunn, Allen Dorrough, and Tommy Dorrough.
