

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Bill M. Talbot, 84, of Gadsden, who passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015. Bro. Bruce Word and Bro. Bill Abbott will officiate. Burial will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Talbot was a 1950 graduate of Etowah High School. He worked for South Central Bell where he retired after 37 years of service. Bill was a sports official for 45 years, officiating AHSAA and was inducted into the Etowah County Sports Hall of Fame. He was an avid bird hunter and Atlanta Braves supporter. He was also a member of James Memorial Baptist Church.
Mr. Talbot was preceded in death by his father, William Talbot; mother, Ella Bea McGrady; sisters, Lucy Romine, and Joyce Bullard; infant great-grandson, Braelyn Jay Gazaway; and beloved dog, Cricket.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia “Gin” Talbot; children, Pam and Larry Daugherty, Cindy T. Gazaway, Billy and Gina Talbot, Ginger Talbot, and Todd and Pam Talbot; chosen children, Tony and Lisa Robertson; grandchildren, Casey and Ben Lackey, Matt Daugherty, Jill and Randall Croft; Jodi Gazaway, Jay Gazaway, Taylor and Kristen Talbot, Morgan and Graeme McFarland, Evan Talbot and Devan, Logan Talbot, and Lane Talbot; brother, Jimmy and Jerri Talbot; sister, Gera and David Comfort; 11 great grandchildren; and chosen family, Jimmy Bullard and Jennifer Mayo.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Matt Daugherty, Ben Lackey, Jay Gazaway, Randall Croft, Taylor Talbot, Evan Talbot, Logan Talbot, and Lane Talbot.
Honorary pallbearers are the Pat Sherrill Sunday School Class; Gadsden Athletics Officials; and best friend “Mr. Fix It”, Ray Milam.
Special thanks to the Coates Bend Volunteer Fire Department, and the Etowah County Sheriff’s Department.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 11, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home.
