Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Bill Wise, 70, formerly of New York, now of Gadsden, who passed away at Providence Hospital Tuesday, February 9, 2016. Bubba Leatherwood will officiate. Burial will be at Forrest Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Wise was retired from the New York City Police Department. He played minor league baseball for the Milwaukie Braves and was an avid Alabama football fan. He was a very kind person and had a big heart.
Mr. Wise was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude and William Wise.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Oakes Wise; daughters, Torie Wise, and Casey (Tom) Widerman; son, William Wise; step-daughter, Jahna Robbins; 13 grandchildren; and 3 beloved dogs, Riley, Allie, and Gizmo.
Pallbearers will be Joe Kelley, Ben Pointer, grandsons, Jayden and Austin, Butch Oakes, Brian Oakes and Jason Billingsly.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service.
