Boyd Smith

Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at North Glencoe Baptist Church for Boyd Smith, 88, of Gadsden, who went home to be with the Lord Tuesday Morning April 19, 2016. Bro. Thom Harrison will officiate. Burial will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.

Boyd was born in Guntersville, Alabama on May 15, 1927 to Claude and Willie Smith. He was the youngest of eight children. He served his country during World War II stationed in Germany. He worked and retired from Allis-Chalmers after several years of service. Boyd was a faithful member of North Glencoe Baptist Church where he attended until his health prevented him from going. He was a master mason and member of the Glencoe Masonic Lodge.

Boyd was preceded in death by his wife Hazel, his parents Claude and Willie, his brothers Horace, Bernice, Jake, Harmon, Emmett, and sister Eula.

He is survived by one brother D.C. Smith, children Judy (Jimmy) McDougal, Lyndia Sims, Dianne (Jackie) McNutt, Don (Rebecca) Smith, & Paula (Greg) Beshears, 5 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons and Joe Cothran.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to North Glencoe Baptist.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 at North Glencoe Church prior to the funeral
