

Charles Roland Moon Sr., age 90 of Rainbow City, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014. The memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in Collier- Butler’s chapel. Brother Rodney Prickett will officiate. The visitation will be Tuesday from 1-2:00 PM at the funeral home. Collier- Butler Funeral and Cremation Services are directing.
Charles Moon graduated from West Blockton High School. He also attended Butler University where he was a member of Lambda Chi and played football. Charles Moon was a WWII Navy Veteran where he was a pharmacist mate. He worked in sales management for over 40 years with American Bakeries and Flowers Bakeries. Charles was a longtime member of the Rainbow Lions Club and was honored with The Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He was a longtime and active member of Riddles Bend Baptist Church of Rainbow City, AL. Mr. Moon loved his family, gardening, fishing on the Gulf Coast, and Auburn football.
Charles Roland Moon Sr. was preceded in death by his father, James Daniel Moon Sr.; mother, Caldonia Luther Moon; brothers, James Daniel Moon Jr., Howard Moon, John Thomas Moon; sister, Betty Ann Cox; and daughter, Lillie Jane Moon.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 65 years, Barbara Moon; sons, Charles Roland Moon Jr. (Sheila), Joe Moon (Kelley); grandchildren, Amanda Goldman, Brian Moon (Becca), Justin Moon, Jill Wise ( Russell), Kyle Moon, Katie Downing (Louis), Challas Goldman (Kayla), Craig Moon (Stephanie), Conner Watts; great grandchildren, Raleigh Wise, Jack Wise, Nell Wise, Rosaria Moon, Miles Grubbs, Lillie Jane Downing, Hannah Downing, Ashton Moon; and sister, Mary Clyde Owens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Riddles Bend Baptist Church.
