
Dan Everett Copeland, of Gadsden, passed away Friday, January 22, in his home, at 82 years of age. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Collier-Butler Chapel. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
He was the son of Hobart Copeland and Frankie Naler. He was born and raised in Gadsden, Alabama. He was Vice President and Glass Contact Manager of Copeland Glass Company, where he worked from the age of fourteen. He founded Dan Copeland and Associates in 1982, where he worked with his son Dan Jr. until he retired in 2011. The business continues under the leadership of Dan Jr..
He is preceded in death by, Violette Copeland, his wife if sixty one years, his father Hobart Copeland, mother Frankie Naler, brother Joe David Copeland, aunt Fannie Mary Johnson, uncle Rob Copeland, uncle Lucius Johnson, and aunt Dee Kenner.
He is survived by his son, Dan Jr, and daughter in law, Wanda; brother, Barry Copeland; sister In law, Frankie Copeland; uncle and aunt, Joe and Nancy Copeland; aunt, Janie Sue Copeland; cousins, Gary Copeland, Ronnie Copeland and wife Joanne Copeland, Ava Berry and Deanna Jennings, niece Amy Triola; nephew, Bart Copeland and wife Nancy and children Ben and Emma Kate.
Dan was an active member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church. He and his wife enjoyed traveling to Europe and China. They looked forward to an annual trip to Gatlinburg with lifelong friends Carolyn and Bill Morris.
The family extends their gratitude to devoted care takers Deborah Stone, Debra Croyle, Nick Williamson, and Kristen Williams.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
