

Hannah Leigh Mayfield, 26, of Southside, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at MeadowBrook Baptist Church. Pastor Randy Gunter will officiate. The family will accept friends Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at MeadowBrook Baptist Church. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is handling arrangements.Hannah attended Coosa Christian School. She enjoyed art and drawing, horses, Labrador retriever puppies, books, music and riding on her pontoon boat. After her car wreck in 2005, Hannah maintained her beautiful smile and loved to laugh. She had a special way of encouraging anyone who talked with her. Her life was a tremendous blessing to her family and a reflection of the love of God. She received Jesus Christ as her Savior as a child and was baptized at Lakeview Baptist Church in Auburn. She was one of the most courageous souls we have ever known and we will miss her sweet smile even in the midst of a situation none of us can understand. Now in Heaven, she can eat, drink, walk and talk for the first time in 10 years! How wonderful that must be for her.Hannah was preceded in death by her grandfather, Dean Akin.Survivors include her parents, Dena and Jack Mayfield; sisters, Lydia (David) Ryan, Mary Grace Mayfield; brothers, Jacob Mayfield, John Mayfield, Josh Ozment; grandparents, Wanda Akin, Ann and Jack Mayfield Sr.; and several cousins, aunts and uncles.Pallbearers will be Jacob Mayfield, John Mayfield, David Ryan, Josh Ozment, Dean Akin and Wes Johnson.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MeadowBrook Baptist Church designated for MeadowBrook Church or designated for Palliative and Comfort Care Unit at UAB.There is no way to adequately express the gratitude we feel over the last 10 years of genuine concern, meals prepared, hugs, carpools, laundry angels, pastoral ministry of God's Word, MeadowBrook Baptist Church, Westbrook Christian School, Gadsden State Community College, Coosa Christian School, friends, teachers and coaches who have nurtured Hannah's brothers and sisters, faithful and loving caretakers, physical therapy friends, book-reader friends, friends who came to play board games, prayer warriors, cards, financial gifts, visits, yard work, songs, and the kindness of numerous doctors, nurses, helpers, and all who loved Hannah.
